Education and Renewal Center

Our Critters

Our Board of Directors includes a nonprofit attorney, an Equine Vet, a Clinical Psychotherapist, an Equine Nutritionist, a Master Farrier as well as business leaders knowledgeable of horsemanship and disabilities. We are thankful that so many competent, caring individuals believe in our mission and actively support us in guiding Tranquility Farm. Our Volunteer Staff is growing with an Equiine Massage Therapist, barn workers, farm maintenance experts, master craftsmen and fundraisers. Wer are very blessed to have all these excellent people in our lives. For those of you retired who have specific skills, we could always use help especially if you know farm equipment like tractors, manure spreaders, electrical or any other farm specialties.

sarah

The non-profit center is the creative thinking our farm President/Founder Sarah Transeau. Sarah is a skilled practical horsewoman and instructor with more than 20 years experience with training riding students with special needs. Sarah received her training from the Guilford Riding School, Guilford, Connecticut; Yorkshire Riding School, York, England and is a vet tech and a certified riding instructor. “We have a well equipped and well-trained volunteer staff to help with the horses and clients”

belle

Belle and Pressley are the full time guard dogs. They protect all the horses from loose treats. Both were rescued from breed clubs and are just as amazing as the horses. Last winter when a mentally ill intruder broke into Tranquility Farm farm house, Belle, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever received damaging kicks to her cruciae ligaments(causing severe locomotion problems) to protect her owner, Sarah and detain the person from attacking our president. The pug, Pressley helped Belle in protecting Sarah from harm. The newest addition to the security team is Jasmine, who was found wandering the streets of Georgetown at 4 weeks. Jasmine is a black lab/Chesapeake Bay mix and she helped the older dogs in preventing serious harm to Sarah, our founder. Interestingly, all the animals here finds ways to promote healing whether it be clients or founders.

cat

The rescue barn cats now number 9. This picture shows Ginger who was the bravest of all cats.

missy

Missy Lou, the mascot cow is soon to be joined by a cast off from a local zoo, and that would be Katie, a cow friend for Missy Lou who is very lonely for a companion. Missy came with the Thurmont farm and enjoys the company of Thomas, the resident donkey. She is not a part of the equine program but is a lovely addition to the peacefulness of the farm.
